To all of our Deerfield Families,
Exciting things are happening at Deerfield. Our running club, Deerfield Dashers, are meeting every Thursday (except during conference weeks) for stretching, games, nutrition information and challenges, and running towards accumulating 25.2 miles before the big run day on May 5th at the Kids Run the OC Marathon event in Costa Mesa. The students are enthusiastic and our coaches are looking forward to some great fun and runs during the next 10 weeks. Registration is now closed. However, if you have a student in grades 4-6 who wants to run, the Irvine Jr. Games is a wonderful option. It is a day of track and field events with monies raised to benefit the Irvine Children's Fund. Are you standing on the sideline wanting to help but not sure how? The PTA has many opportunities for you to volunteer and participate at our school. Parent participation is essential to the success of our programs. If you want to chair a committee or want to learn more, please let us know. We are currently looking to fill chair positions for our Open House Dinner, Mother/Daughter Tea, Guy Stuff Night, Arts Advocacy, and Legislative Action. We encourage and welcome all parent members to Link-In and get involved.
Thank you to our parents who participated and donated to the Direct Donation/Membership Drive. All donations directly impact every child every day at school. Unfortunately, we have not yet met our goal. Please consider becoming a member or donating today. Membership and donations are received during the entire school year so it's never too late. Please submit your form or join online today.
You are invited to us at our next monthly PTA meeting on Friday, Feb. 17, at 8:30 AM in the MPR. The nominating committee will present candidates for next year's board. We are looking to fill positions for VP of Membership, VP of Ways & Means, VP of Programs, and Treasurer for the coming school year. If you are interested in becoming a candidate for any of the positions named above, please let us know. We are also excited to welcome guest speakers on Autism from For OC Kids. Please join us for a great morning. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
